Sonicare Features Explained[<< Back to Sonicare Information Main Page]
How long does the battery last?A fully charged Sonicare toothbrush will provide about two weeks of brushing power - enough for most out-of-town trips. Once a Sonicare toothbrush is fully charged, there's no need to store it in the charger. However, continuous charging provides maximum brushing power and battery life, and won't harm the unit or batteries.
What is the Quadpacer (selected Advance and Elite models)?Quadpacer tells you when to move your brush from the upper teeth to the lowers, outside to inside. It beeps at 30-second intervals during the 2-minute brushing period, signaling you when it's time to move to the next section.
What is the Programmable Quadpacer (available exclusive on Elite 7800 model)?Programmable Quadpacer gives an optional 30 seconds of extended brushing to focus on problematic areas where plaque collects and gum disease starts. It's recommended you use the extra 30 seconds of brushing time to rebrush troublesome areas, massage your gums, or brush your tongue.
What is Easy-Start (featured in all Advance and Elite models)? The Easy-Start feature, found in all Sonicare models, helps you get accustomed to power brushing by gently increasing the brushing power during the first 12 uses (Advance models) or 14 uses (Elite models).
How does Easy-Start work?During the first 12 or 14 brushings (Advance and Elite models, respectively), you'll hear 2 quick beeps immediately after you press the power button. This is your signal that you're getting reduced brushing power. After the first 12 or 14 brushings (depending on the Sonicare brush you have), you'll no longer hear the double beep and your Sonicare toothbrush will be at the optimal brushing power. Using the Easy-Start feature beyond the initial ramp-up period is not recommended and reduces Sonicare's ability to remove plaque.
What is Smartimer (featured in all Advance and Elite models)?Smartimer automatically stops your Sonicare toothbrush after the dentist-recommended 2-minute brushing time. If, at any time during brushing, you momentarily stop the brush to rinse or apply more toothpaste, the smartimer pauses its timing so that you can pick up where you left off. Although the 2-minute time is recommended for optimal results, you can always stop or restart the brush at any time by pressing the power button. Whenever the handle is placed in the charger, the smartimer automatically resets to ensure a full brushing cycle the next time you use it. The smartimer also automatically resets itself if you stop your Sonicare toothbrush for longer than 45 seconds.
What is the Dual Speed Control Setting (available exclusive on Elite 7500 and 7800 models)? The Dual Speed Control allows your choice of brushing power with 2 speed settings: High for optimum brushing performance and plaque removal, and Low for sensitive areas.
What is the recharge indicator? (available on selected Advance and Elite models)This feature tells you the amount of charge you have in your Sonicare toothbrush battery by using different sequences of beeps and flashing lights. |
